Anglican Ethos

The Church of England ethos can be described as ‘inclusive’. Based in a network of local churches we place a high value on ‘community’ and our ‘common life’.

As University Chaplains we are inspired by the historical Church of England ideal of offering care to  people regardless of their religious belief.

We are grounded in our  tradition that has historically included both catholic and protestant expressions of Christian faith. This means that in our own personal faith, and in our working life as priests, we are familiar with communites that contain at times very different views and ideals.

In universities we work to ensure that there is faith provision for students and staff from the different world religions, as well as our own.

We work closely with chaplains from other Christian denominations and the other world religions.
